HOME REMEDIES: ROSE

St Hildegard writes: "When God created man, a different type of earth was used to form him. Henceforth, all substances were subject to man, because they sensed that in him was life, and they endeavoured to aid him in him in all his efforts, and man's aim, in turn, was to help them." PROVENCE ROSE (ROSA CENTIFOLIA) The rose is cold, but that particular cold has a useful principle in it. Collect the rose petals at daybreak and place them over the EYES . They make them clear and draw out [inflammation].  Rose petals are also useful for bandaging ULCERS and for all kinds of medicines and ointments.  If you get angry easily, grind to powder dried rose petals and some sage. As soon as the ANGER stirs, bring some powder to your nose. The sage soothes and the rose cheers.  An ointment made from roses and half as much sage, boiled with fat and water, eliminates SPASMS and PARALYSIS . GINGER (ZINGIBER OFFICINALE) Ginger is very hot and flowing, its consumption harms  healthy and well-nourished people because  it makes them stupid, unwise, lukewarm and unrestrained. But those who are SKINNY AND FRAIL should take a drink made from ginger powder or eat ginger with their bread, but discontinue this once they have recovered so as not to suffer any damage.  Against  INFLAMED AND CLOUDY EYES , ginger powder should be wrapped in a cloth and steeped in  wine until the  wine has taken on a dark colour; this preparation should then be smeared on the eyelids before going to bed.
