St Hildegard writes:

BEAN (VICA FABA)
The bean is warm, good food for healthy and strong people, it surpasses the pea. Even for the weak, the bean is not exactly harmful because it does not create as much mucus.
Bean flour is good for the healthy and the sick because it is easy to digest. For diseases of the bowels, boil beans to pulp in water, add fat or oil and consume this concoction regularly.
